What can I use to display dress up clothes for the kids in my dramatic play area?
I can not find a reasonable priced dress up island for my kid’s costumes. Any ideas on how I can go about displaying the items in the dramatic area of the room so that the children don’t have to dig the pieces out of a tote?
You can often find store fixtures for sale if a business is closing. Watch your area for clothing stores that are going-out-of-business. You might be able to find a real bargain if you ask to buy the store fixtures (racks, etc) for a classroom.
You can also make a clothes pin rack for clipping things. Take a board and hot glue or screw spring-type clothes pins on it every couple of inches. Attach it to a wall or other sturdy area. When the students want to put an article of clothing away, they just have to clip it into the clothes pin.
As well, you could do the velcro thing. Stitch a small square of velcro to the back collar or waistband of the dressup clothes. Attach the other side of the velcro strip to a bookcase or wall area. Then have the students “hang” their clothes up when they’re done.
